Heavenly Tidbits

• Have you smiled or laughed today? Humor does a body good.
• When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be! I want to go to heaven, don’t you?
• A neti pot is a natural way to relieve nasal congestion and allergies.

*** Tidbit  1  Gotta Smile

The Hand of God
Little Philip was walking home in the rain with his mother following Sunday worship. It finally stopped raining as they rounded the corner, where to their surprise and delight appeared a vivid double rainbow in the sky. “Doesn’t it look like an artist painted this rainbow?” his mother exclaimed. “I bet God painted this just for you!”

“Yes,” replied Philip, “God did it and he did it left-handed.”
Confused, his mother asked him, “What makes you say God did this with his left hand?”
“Well,” said Philip, “we learned in Sunday School that Jesus sits on God’s right hand.”

There Ain’t No Hell
A man in his conversation with another man, made this following statement.
“I traveled all over the world and there ain’t no hell. Preachers preach about hell just to get us to come to church and take our money. I tell you there ain’t no hell.”

A little boy standing by said, “Mister, you ain’t dead yet.” ~Author unknown

How to Get to Heaven?
A teacher asked the children in her Sunday school class, “If I sold my house and my car, had a big garage sale and gave all my money to the church, would I get into heaven?” “NO!” the children all answered.

“If I cleaned the church every day, mowed the yard, and kept everything neat and tidy, would I get into heaven?” Again, the answer was “NO!”

“Well,” she continued, “then how can I get to heaven?”
In the back of the room, a five-year-old boy shouted out, “You gotta be dead!”

*** Tidbit 2 Heaven

When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory!
We’ll be singing, praises ringing, saints rejoicing, up in glory – forever more!
O what a time, what a time that will be!

A Sunday school teacher asked her students if they wanted to go to heaven. All but one raised their hands. She asked, “Timmy don’t you want to go to heaven?” Timmy replied, “Yeah, I wanna go, I just don’t wanna go right now.”

The majority of individuals probably feel the same as Timmy. I grew up in church. During that time, the emphasis seemed to be on not going to hell: (You better get saved so that you won’t go to hell. If you don’t get yourself together, you’re going to hell.) There were times when I was scared to go to bed because I knew if I died during the night, I would go to hell. The main reason I accepted Christ as my Savior was because I didn’t want to go to hell.

The main reason I stay with the Lord is because over the years, I’ve gotten to know Him. He’s a good, good father. I don’t want to live without Him. He has provided and continues to provide for me. He’s kept my mind, especially during this pandemic. He’s kept my body. I don’t have time to tell it all, but He has been so good!!! I know that He loves me & I love Him!

Heaven was talked about during my youth, but not nearly as much as going to hell. Even today, you don’t hear many sermons about heaven and spending eternity with Jesus. I think if, as children we were taught more about going to heaven, people wouldn’t be so afraid of dying. There are people who refuse to entertain the thought of dying. They won’t even think about getting burial insurance or making a will.

I’m reminded of the times when my friends and I would go to parties. When it was time for the party to end, we would hear these words, “The party is over. You all have to get up out of here. We don’t care where you go, but you got to get up out of here.”

One thing we know for certain is: one day we have to get up out of here. We all have to leave this earth. Whether we go to heaven or hell is up to us. I want to go to heaven, don’t you?

*** Tidbit  3  Neti pot

A neti pot is a natural way to relieve nasal congestion and allergies. It thins mucus and helps flush it out of the nasal passages. It looks like a cross between a small teapot and Aladdin’s magic lamp.

It’s used to treat chronic visual, ear, nose and throat problems. Many people believe that regular use of a neti pot works better than over-the-counter medications. There are other ways you can rinse your nose but the neti pot is the most popular.

You’ll need non-iodized salt because iodized salt can irritate your nose over a long period of time. You’ll need warm water. The neti pot usually comes with an insert that explains how to use it. They are available over-the-counter. They usually cost between$15 and $30 dollars. Be sure to ask your doctor if you have any concerns about nasal irrigation.

The information that I have shared with you is intended for informational purposes.

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?  If not, what are you waiting on? In crazy times like these, we need a Savior. If you have already accepted Him, He wants you to get to know Him even better.

Thanks for stopping by.  Thanks for following this blog.  Until next time, have a blessed month!

*** Tidbit 1   Gotta Smile

When you can laugh at yourself, you are free.

To make mistakes is human; to stumble is commomplace; to be able to laugh at yourself is maturity.~William Arthur Ward

Learn to laugh at yourself. Life will be a lot funnier. ~Valley & Co.

Blessed are we who can laugh at ourselves for we shall never cease to be amused.

Having a sense of humor can make life a little easier. Being able to laugh at yourself can also make life a little easier.  When you can laugh at yourself you admit that you are not a perfect person. You’re confident enough to share your flaws.

The ability to laugh at yourself can help you remain humble. It can be therapeutic. It can allow you to help someone else. It brings about courage because it’s not always easy to laugh at yourself.

I received an email from a friend.  She wrote, “I fixed supper and forgot to put meat on my plate.  I laughed at myself when I ate without it. Goes to show I can do without meat sometimes.” One of the best things you can do after laughing at yourself is to see what you can learn from the incident.  In her case, she saw that she didn’t have to eat meat at every meal.

One time I went in Walmart, had other things on my mind, came out and didn’t remember where I parked my car.  I was so embarrassed. I walked slowly, trying to find it. I was hoping nobody who knew me saw me. If all else failed, I would have pressed the alarm on my keys, but I found it, thank the Lord. Lesson learned: pay attention to where I park or write down where I parked.

I’m cold natured so when the weather turns cold, I like to wear layers. One morning as I got dressed for work, I put on a black top and the matching pants.  On my way out the door, I remembered that I hadn’t put my footless tights on under my pants.  I went in my bedroom, took off my pants and put on my tights.  I already had on my knee highs. I put on my shoes and went out the door.

When I got outside, I looked down and saw that I had forgotten to put my pants back on. Now the top was a long tunic and somebody might have thought that I was wearing a mini dress. I looked around; hoping none of my neighbors had seen me. I hurriedly went back in and put on my pants.

Usually I will look at myself in a full length mirror before I leave the house. If I would have taken the time to look, I would have seen that I only had on the pantyhose under the tunic.  Now I could have taken this story with me to my grave but I decided to share it.  I told my coworker; she felt to share it with my boss.  Another lady overheard me telling my coworker so I had to retell it.  I know I must have repeated that story at least 5 times that day. But you know what, people had a good time laughing and laughter does a body good!

Lesson learned: Always take time to look in the mirror before I go out the door, even when I’m in a hurry. It’s good to have a full length mirror and a shorter mirror.  You can hold up the shorter mirror to look at yourself from behind.

Also, be careful what you pray for.  I often ask the Lord to let me be a blessing to others. Well, that day I was a blessing to others cause they had a good laugh at my expense. I was blessed also because each time I told it, I got a good laugh.

Whenever you feel like you have nothing to laugh about, maybe it’s a good idea to laugh at yourself. In this life you’re gonna find plenty occasions to do just that. Look back over your life at some of the stupid things you did.  Some of them were funny and stupid. Some of them were dangerous. Then thank God that He kept you. He kept your mind. He kept your body. He kept you from going to jail. He kept you from beating somebody up. The list can go on and on. God is a keeper, yes He is!

We can’t blame everything on the ageing process. At all ages humans make some not so intelligent decisions. God didn’t make us perfect.  Sometimes we just need to slow down, concentrate, and stop multitasking. Sometimes God may try to warn us but we’re too busy to listen or we just think we know.  Whatever your age, don’t take yourself so seriously. You’re gonna be doing stupid stuff until you die or until Jesus comes, so you might as well learn to laugh!

*** Tidbit 2   Trouble doesn’t last always.

Aren’t you glad that trouble doesn’t last always?  Each particular trouble does have an expiration date. Good news! Born again believers don’t have to go through that trouble alone.

You will find in Psalm 91, that you can go to God and find refuge. He’ll be with you in that trouble and He will deliver you. He may deliver you while you’re on earth and He may deliver you by taking you to Heaven. Either way you’ll be delivered.

*** Tidbit  3   The Sweet Potato

The sweet potato belongs to the root family – meaning that the part you eat is the root. The white potato is part of the nightshade family, which includes tomatoes, eggplant and hot peppers. There are hundreds of different varieties of sweet potato. They are usually orange, but can also be white, purple or deep red.

Sweet potatoes are rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber. The following are some impressive health benefits. Sweet potatoes may: improve digestion, treat inflammation, relieve asthma, reduce arthritis pain, help with stomach cramps, and boost the immune system.

Cooking sweet potatoes quickly in high heat (like steaming) is the best way to prepare them. This method retains their nutritional value. The second best way would be boiling. Boiling them in water leaches out some nutrients, but it lowers their glycemic index, which means you get less insulin spike after eating them. Steam or boil them with the skin on to retain as much of their nutritional value as possible.

Remember to include steamed or boiled sweet potatoes in your 2022 DoBetter Challenge. Set a goal to replace some unhealthy junk food with them.

The information that I have shared with you is intended for informational purposes.

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?  If not, what are you waiting on? In crazy times like these, we need a Savior. If you have already accepted Him, He wants you to get to know Him even better.

Worthwhile Tidbits

* Don’t Quit! Whenever you feel discouraged and you want to quit, read Psalm 46.

* Berries do a body GOOD! Most are packed with nutrients and may be a weapon against many diseases.

* Laugh yourself to life! Your body and your mind will appreciate it.

Tidbit 1    Don’t Quit

We have all experienced times when we wanted to give up and quit: quit the job, quit school, quit a relationship, quit a diet, quit trying to stick to a healthier lifestyle, quit hoping, quit believing. There are some who decided to quit life by committing suicide. There may have been times when you even wanted to quit God. There may be times when your victory testimony at the end of the day is that you didn’t quit!

Whenever you go through a season and you want to quit but God is not telling you to quit, read Psalm 46.  You’ll see that God is ready, willing and able to help you hold on and not quit.

Click on the video below to view the oral presentation of this blog and hear my version of the poem, Don’t Quit.

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out–
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

– Author unknown –

Please understand that there are times in life when we do have to quit, for whatever reason. I’m not judging you. My goal is to encourage you.

Tidbit 2    Berries

Berries – blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, blackberries, etc., are among the healthiest foods you can eat. God planned in the beginning, that fruit should play an important part in our diet.  So following that plan may add much to your health. Studies show that many berries are packed with nutrients and may be a weapon against many diseases, including cancer.  Here are 5 reasons why you should add berries to your shopping cart.

Berries:

1. Pack fiber – Most of us can probably use a little more fiber in our diet.

2. The vitamin C in berries may help keep your HDL cholesterol levels high, which lowers the risk of your arteries becoming plagued by plaque.

3. May help fight inflammation – Inflammation is your body’s defense against infection or injury.

4. May help fight against neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Osteoarthritis and Parkinson’s disease.

5. Can help decrease your processed sugar intake because they are naturally sweet and you shouldn’t need to add sugar to them.

A typical serving size for berries is one cup.

Get those berries in on a regular basis and enjoy adding to your health.

Tidbit 3   A Little Humor

*** Four Reasons Why They Didn’t Get the Job!

  1. Candidate told the interviewer that he was fired from his last job because he beat up his boss.
  2. Candidate left his cell phone on and took a call dung the interview.
  3. Candidate asked the interviewer to hurry up because she had left her child in the car.
  4. Candidate said, “What company is this again?”

*** The New Pastor

The young man had just graduated from Bible College and was called to pastor a church close to his home town. The new Pastor was so nervous at his first service, he could hardly speak. Before his second appearance in the pulpit, he asked his former Pastor how he could relax. The older minister said, “Next Sunday, it may help if you put a little vodka in your water glass. After a few sips, everything should go smoothly. I will be visiting your church next week to see how things go for you.”

The next Sunday the young minister put the suggestion into practice and was able to talk up a storm. He felt great! However, after the service, his former Pastor pulled him aside and offered this advice for him.
1 .Next time sip rather than gulp.
2. There are 10 commandments, not 12.
3. There are 12 disciples, not 10.
4. We do not refer to the cross as the “Big T.”
5. The recommended grace before meals is not “Rub-a-dub-dub, thanks for the grub. Yeah God!”
6. We do not refer to Our Savior, Jesus and His disciples as “J.C. and the Boys.”
7. David slew Goliath; he did not “kick the crap out of him.”
8. Last, but not least, The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are never referred to as “Big Daddy, Junior, and the Spook.”

The information that I have shared with you is intended for informational purposes only.

Motivational Tidbits

* Smiles and laugher really do a body good!

* Don’t let the devil ride. If you let him ride, he’s gonna wanna drive.

* Popeye the Sailor Man ate spinach for strength to fight the bad guys. Although spinach won’t help you in a physical fight, it may help your body fight disease.

Tidbit 1    Humor Time

The young couple invited their aged pastor for Sunday dinner. While they were in the kitchen preparing the meal, the minister asked their son what they were having.

 “Goat,” the little boy replied.

“Goat?” replied the startled pastor. “Are you sure about that?” “Yes,” said the boy. “On the drive back from church I heard Mom say to Dad, ‘Remember, we’re having the old goat for dinner tonight.’ ”

Sunday Funnies – A little girl, dressed in her Sunday best, was running as fast as she could, trying not to be late for Bible class. As she ran she prayed, “Dear Lord, please don’t let me be late! Dear Lord, please don’t let me be late!” As she was running and praying, she tripped on a curb and fell, getting her clothes dirty and tearing her dress. She got up, brushed herself off, and started running again. As she ran, she once again began to pray, “Dear Lord, please don’t let me be late… But please don’t shove me either!”

What do you call a cheese that’s not yours?

Nacho cheese!

Tidbit 2    Don’t let the devil ride.

Sometimes we give the devil too much credit.  When we see all the evil going on in the world, we may forget that God has more power than the devil.  We cannot combat the devil successfully without God.  God has given us the power to say, “No” to the devil.  Because God has given us free will, we can say yes to the devil and allow him to come right on in.

If you are always quick to say, “The devil made me do it.”  Stop lying.  In most instances you let the devil influence you.  As you go through your day, your week and the devil tries to influence you, get you discouraged, tries to get you to go off on somebody, I want you to say to him, “Oh no devil, God is gonna help me and I’m not gonna let you ride today!”

Don’t forget to smile today. – Don’t let the devil ride! – Got spinach?

Tidbit 3     Spinach

There used to be a cartoon called Popeye the Sailor Man.  Popeye got his strength from eating spinach.  He was the good guy and he was always getting into situations.  In each episode, when he had taken all he could take, he would pull out a can of spinach.  When that can of spinach came out, you knew Popeye was going to kick some “butt.”

Although spinach won’t help you in a physical fight, it can help your body fight disease. There are many benefits of including spinach in your diet.  Here are 6 of them.  Spinach:

  1. May help protect the eyes.
  2. Is high in insoluble fiber and may help with constipation or irregular stools.
  3. Provides many vitamins and nutrients, including vitamin C, calcium and magnesium.
  4. Contains antioxidants, which may help reduce stress and the damage it causes.
  5. May help slow down cancer growth.
  6. May help reduce blood pressure levels.

Some vegetables provide more nutrients when they are lightly cooked.  When spinach is cooked the body will absorb more calcium and iron. Once you’ve cooked and eaten the spinach, you can drink the water or pot liquor.  Pot liquor is the liquid left in a pot after cooking something.

Cooked spinach can be added to almost any dish, or eaten as a side dish.  If you choose to eat spinach raw, here are a few ways.

1. Tear the spinach into smaller pieces and add to tuna salad or chicken salad.
2. Add it to your favorite smoothies.  You won’t even notice that it’s in there.
3. After rice or pasta has been cooked, add it to the dish.
4. Put it on the top of your pizza.
5. Add it to already prepared hummus or bean dish.

Keep in mind that eating veggies lightly cooked or raw is something that most people should be doing more of.  They provide so many nutrients and very few calories.  Let’s get that spinach in ya’ll!

What other ways do you include spinach in your diet?  Please share with us.

The information that I have shared with you is intended for informational purposes only.  Spinach is very high in vitamin K1, which can be a problem for people on blood thinners.  People who are prone to kidney stones may want to avoid spinach. Check with your physician if you have health issues.

If you know Jesus Christ as your Savior, now is the time to get to know Him even better.  If you don’t know Him, accepting Him as your Savior will be the wisest decision you will ever make.

Merry Tidbits

SMILE! It’s hard to smile and be sad at the same time. What do you say about a Christmas gift you don’t like? Have you jumped off the “healthy living” wagon? It’s not too late to jump back on. Make a plan and finish strong in 2020.

Tidbit 1   Christmas Humor

Things To Say About A Christmas Gift You Don’t Like

  • If the dog buries it, I’ll be furious!
  • To think — I got this the year I vowed to give all my gifts to charity.
  • I love it — but I fear the jealousy it will inspire.
  • Sadly, tomorrow I enter the Federal Witness Protection Program.

“Keep your friends close, your enemies closer, and receipts for all major purchases.” – Bridger Winegar

“Christmas is the season when you buy this year’s gifts with next year’s money.” – Author Unknown

On the Sunday before Christmas Reverend Billy Graham was walking down Highland Street in Mt Holly, North Carolina on his way to see a parishioner. However, he wanted to post a parcel urgently so he asked a young boy where he could find the post office. When the boy had directed him, Reverend Graham thanked him and said, ‘If you’ll come to the Church this evening, you can hear me telling everyone how to get to heaven.’

The boy replied, ‘I think I’ll give your sermon a miss. If you don’t even know your way to the post office, how will you lead me to heaven?’

Tidbit 2   Finish Strong

There’s something in the air from Thanksgiving until New Year’s Day that makes you want to indulge in ALL the holiday treats. Something that makes you say, “I’ll start doing better next year.”  There’s something that makes you want to forget about exercise, forget about calories, etc., etc. There are the treats that you only get during this time of the year like egg nogg, Christmas cookies, fruit cake and pumpkin pie.  Some people simply jumped off the “healthy living” wagon because the temptations were too great.

I don’t know about you, but I can do a lot of damage between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day if I don’t keep myself on track. So I know that I can’t just let myself go crazy and forget about my health goals.  I can’t afford to say, I’ll start all over again in January. If I go two days without doing some form of physical activity, it’s hard for me to get started again. If I go two days without any type of raw vegetable, I just don’t feel right. If I went from Thanksgiving until January without working on my goals, I don’t know if I would ever get started again. It would definitely be much harder for me get started again.

Have you jumped off the “healthy living” wagon?  Well, it’s not too late to get back on.  Start thinking about the things you can do today, then start planning. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.  Keep moving forward and finish 2020 strong!

Tidbit 3   Anniversary Time

This is the 10th year that the Fit 4 the Master’s Use radio broadcast has been on WNCA 1570AM, Siler City, NC. Prior to 2010, I was a guest on my sister, Pastor Charlotte Bryant’s broadcast. I thank Pastor Bryant, Praise Tabernacle and the Lord for that beginning.  Many times, I have wanted to throw up my hands and quit.  Many times, I wondered whether or not I was making a difference. It takes time and research to produce those little 15-minute broadcasts.  Sometimes I wonder what in the world am I going to present next.  What topic is left?  Then God steps in and gives me something.  He has been and continues to be faithful.

Years ago, I began this healthy living quest because I was dealing with a health issue.  I had no idea that I would be inviting others to come along on this quest with me.  I haven’t done and still don’t do everything perfectly.  I eat too much sometimes.  I eat unhealthy foods sometimes.  I am a work in progress.  I’ll continue to be a work in progress until the day I die.

I’ve shared many times before; my goal is not to live to be 100.  I just want to feel good, with no pain, or as less pain possible, while I live. I want to be able to drive myself around.  I want to be able to care for myself.  I don’t want to be so sick and tired that it negatively affects my ability to do what God has called me to do.  We all have a destiny to fulfill. We all have gifts.  I hope you will continue to join me in 2021 on this healthy living quest.

I hope you enjoyed these merry tidbits.

If you know Jesus Christ as your Savior, now is the time to get to know Him even better.  If you don’t know Him, accepting Him as your Savior will be one of the wisest decisions you will ever make.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a blessed day!

Inspiring Tidbits

***In everything give thanks. ***Food – Creation Retold: In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and vegetables of all kinds and colors, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives. ***Laughter is a good form of stress relief. Have you laughed today?

Be grateful for what you have and stop complaining – it bores everybody else, does you no good, and doesn’t solve any problems. – Zig Ziglar

Tidbit 1:   Give Thanks

In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, the Apostle Paul writes, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”  Paul says very directly: No exceptions, no buts, no excuses—in everything give thanks.  No matter how we think or feel, no matter what the situation is, we need to find a reason to thank God.  I heard a minister say, “When I hear somebody say they have nothing to be thankful for, a spirit of slap comes over me and I just want to slap them.”

Here are some quotes that I came across.  The authors are all unknown.

“I want to say thank you to all the people who walked into my life and made it outstanding, and all the people who walked out of my life and made it fantastic.”

There’s one thing for which you should be abundantly thankful – only you and God have all the facts about yourself.

“There’s always something to be thankful for. If you can’t pay your bills, you can be thankful you’re not one of your creditors.”

The thing I’m most grateful for right now is elastic waistbands.”

As you go about your day, make a point to be grateful for the things you may otherwise not even notice.  For instance, when you go outside to get in your car, thank God that the car is still there, and nobody stole it during the night.  If you really like coffee, sometimes take a minute in the morning to thank God for this “little thing” that brings you joy and comfort. How about the blessing of having hot water? It’s something we can easily take for granted, but it makes our lives so much better!  How many times have you entered your house, turned on the lights and thanked God for the lights? As we begin to thank God for the small things in our lives, it will help us to focus on the positive and everything we do have. As result, we will also be much happier!

Tidbit 2   Food – Creation Retold

In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives.

Then using God’s great gifts, Satan created Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream and Krispy Creme Donuts. And Satan said, “You want chocolate with that?” And Man said, “Yes!” and Woman said, “and as long as you’re at it, add some sprinkles.” And they gained 10 pounds. And Satan smiled.

And God created the healthful yogurt that Woman might keep the figure that Man found so fair. And Satan brought forth white flour from the wheat, and sugar from the cane and combined them. And Woman went from size 6 to size 14.

So God said, “Try my fresh green salad.” And Satan presented Thousand-Island Dressing, buttery croutons and garlic toast on the side.  And Man and Woman unfastened their belts following the repast.

God then said, “I have sent you heart healthy vegetables and olive oil in which to cook them” And Satan brought forth deep fried fish and chicken-fried steak so big it needed its own platter. And Man gained more weight and his cholesterol went through the roof. God then created a light, fluffy white cake, named it “Angel Food Cake,” and said, “It is good.”  Satan then created chocolate cake and named it “Devil’s Food.”

God then brought forth running shoes so that His children might lose those extra pounds. And Satan gave cable TV with a remote control so Man Would not have to toil changing the channels. And Man and Woman laughed and cried before the flickering blue light and gained pounds.

Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition. And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fried them. And Man gained pounds.

God then gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories and still satisfy his appetite. And Satan created McDonald’s and its 99-cent double cheeseburger Then said, “You want fries with that?” And Man replied, “Yes! And super size them!” And Satan said, “It is good.” And Man went into cardiac arrest.

God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery.

Then Satan created HMOs (health maintenance organization plans).

Tidbit 3   Laughter

When was the last time you had a good laugh? Laughter is a great form of stress relief.  It increases oxygen to your heart, lungs and muscles, improves your mood.  According to Milton Berle, “Laughter is an instant vacation.” Research shows that the body doesn’t know the difference between real or fake laughter.  Fake laughter turns into real laughter.  If you don’t believe it, try it.  Turn up the corners of your mouth up into a smile and then give a laugh.  It may begin as fake laughter but the longer you do it, the less fake it will be.  Give your body that needed vacation!

I hope enjoyed these inspiring tidbits. Thanks for watching.

If you know Jesus Christ as your Savior, now is the time to get to know Him even better.  If you don’t know Him, accepting Him as your Savior will be one of the wisest decisions you will ever make.

Have a blessed day!

Health – Giving Tidbits

Have you smiled or laughed today? Humor does a body good. The Bible proves that God is the one and only true mastermind. If you have any doubts, start by reading the 1st chapter of Genesis. Have you stretched today? There are many benefits to stretching on a regular basis.

Tidbit 1   Humor Time

“Inside me there’s a thin person struggling to get out, but I can usually sedate him with four or five cupcakes.”– Bob Thaves

A Backyard Neighbor Funeral

Mr. Green peered over his fence and noticed that the neighbor’s little boy was in his backyard filling in a hole. Curious about what the youngster was up to, Mr. Green asked, “What are you doing, Jimmy?”

Tearfully, little Jimmy replied, “My goldfish died, and I’ve just buried him.”

“That’s an awfully large hole for a goldfish, isn’t it?” Mr. Green said.

Patting down the last bit of earth, little Jimmy replied, “That’s because he’s in your cat!”

Asking Her Age

A young mother had been too busy to visit her elderly neighbor who was ill.  She said to her small son, “Johnny, run over and see how ‘old Mrs. Smith’ is.”  Within a few minutes, the boy was back.  “She says it’s none of your business how old she is.”

Tidbit 2   Mastermind Is He

A mastermind can be described as a brilliant thinker with original ideas (a chess mastermind or a criminal mastermind).  Inventors, intellectuals, and famous geniuses can also be called masterminds.

The Bible proves that God is the one and only true mastermind.  If you have any doubts, start by reading the 1st chapter of Genesis.  God created the heavens and the earth from the very beginning.  He just keeps on showing off His outstanding self throughout the Bible.  Look what God has done, mastermind is He!

Tidbit 3   Stretching

Have you stretched today?  Do you stretch on a regular basis?  Some people don’t realize the health benefits of stretching.  Stretching is completely adjustable.  No previous experience required.  It just gets better the more you do it.

Here are some benefits of stretching before you get out of bed in the morning.

1.  Stretching in the morning can help improve the range of motion in the joints, as well as stiffness that often accompanies being inactive or overweight.  Decreased flexibility in the joints may increase your likelihood of developing arthritis or having poor balance, which could lead to injury.

2.   It can dramatically improve blood circulation.  A quick stretch when you wake can energize you to get out of bed.  Proper circulation helps you move and function throughout the day.

 3.  It can help relieve stress and tension and help you to face the day more positively.

Before you take on the daily pressures and demands of job and family, allow yourself a few minutes to stretch and breathe.  Before you do those stretches or even put one foot on the floor – acknowledge the Lord.  Give Him a wave offering, a “Thank you Jesus”, blow Him a kiss, give Him a scripture verse, tell Him good morning – acknowledge Him.  Then proceed with your stretches.

You can lie on your back, on your bed and just stretch your whole body & wiggle your fingers and toes.  Some other movements include: Knees-to-Chest Stretch, Spinal Twist, Seated Forward Bend, or you can just be creative.

Stretching before going to bed gives you a chance to transition to quiet and let go of any negative thinking.  Listen to some scripture verses, or soothing music.

  1. Breathe slowly and deeply, stretch lightly and be relaxed.
  2. Stretch in a smooth movement, without bouncing, only as far as it feels good to you.  Bouncing as you stretch can injure your muscle and actually contribute to muscle tightness.  Don’t worry about how far you can stretch.
  3. Hold each stretch position steadily for about 30 seconds to give your muscles time to lengthen.

With your body relaxed, you should be able to fall asleep quicker and sleep more soundly.  Your goal with a bedtime stretch is relaxation, to reduce muscle tension that has built up from the day’s activities.  So take a few minutes tonight and stretch before telling God good night.

Stretching anytime anywhere is a great way to take a break from your busy day to recharge and strengthen your body and your mind.  It does not need to be time consuming.  If you take a few minutes out of your day to stretch and try to do so at least 2-3 days a week you can achieve the most benefits.  If you stretch on an irregular schedule, your body will not be able to maintain a consistent range of motion.  In other words, if you don’t use it, you lose it.

What are you waiting on?  Get started today!

Priceless Tidbits

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall and had a great fall. He couldn’t be put back together again. If you’re broken from a fall, God specializes in mending broken pieces. Have you smiled or laughed today? Humor does a body good. Aromatherapy may lift your mood & help alleviate the symptoms of various conditions.

Welcome! I’m so glad that you decided to visit Happy & Fit 4 the Master’s Use!  These priceless physical, mental, and spiritual tidbits are here to encourage, enlighten, motivate you, and/or simply make you smile.  It’s not about one part, it’s about the whole. God wants us healthy mind, body, and soul.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men, couldn’t put Humpty together again
.

We don’t know why Humpty was on that wall.  All we know is that this time, they couldn’t put him back together.

We’ve had to deal with a lot of challenges during COVID-19.  Many people have found themselves faced with losing their homes, life savings, jobs, family members, and friends, etc.  Some of you may be wondering how or if, your broken life, your broken situation is going to get put back together.  If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and you are broken or severely damaged from any kind physical, mental or spiritual fall, Jesus can fix your broken pieces.  Nothing is too hard for Him.  He specializes in restoration.

Maybe you’re broken from falling off the healthy living wall.  At one time you were drinking your water, getting enough sleep, exercising, limiting your sweets and processed foods, you were mindful of how you were treating your body.  Maybe you’ve picked back up some habits that you had previously dropped, like smoking, cursing or drinking alcohol.  Maybe your body is physically broken, well, it’s not too late.  God cares about your body and how you treat it and He’s able to put you back together again.

At some point in my school age years I developed an inferiority complex. I let the devil drill it into my mind for years and years how inferior I was.  This went on until one day I was in my college dorm room and God spoke to me and told me that He was going to teach me to love myself.  I looked in the mirror and I declared, Annette, you are somebody and you’re not inferior to anybody.  From that day forward the journey began.  It didn’t happen overnight.  I began to look in the mirror and make positive declarations about myself and about my life.  Yes, I was broken.  I mean badly broken but I thank God that He has restored the broken pieces in that area.

Maybe you’re broken spiritually.  You’re not walking with God like you used to.  You’re not praying and seeking Him like you once did.  God can still mend your broken pieces.  I want to share with you from the second chapter of Joel.  The prophet Joel wrote to the people of Judah during a difficult time in their history.  They had endured the loss of crops and livestock as well as the death of friends and loved ones because of a plague of locusts. The Lord sent Joel to speak of His desire to restore to them what they had lost.

Joel 2 verse 25 reads, And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.  The years that the locusts have eaten represent negative experiences in the past, especially seasons of loss or lack.  When those locusts did their work, it looked complete and final, but God promised that He could even restore the years that the swarming locusts has eaten.

All the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty back together again, but Hallelujah, I serve a God who specializes in doing just that!

Years ago I attended an event where I heard BeBe & CeCe Winans sing a song called Humpty Dumpty. It has stayed with me all these years.  Click below to view the oral presentation of this blog and my rendition of Humpty Dumpty.

Gotta smile

The church council met to discuss the pastor’s compensation package for the coming year. After the meeting the chair of council told the pastor: “We are very sorry, Pastor, but we decided that we cannot give you a raise next year.”

“But you must give me a raise,” said the pastor. “I am but a poor preacher!”
“I know,” the council chair said. “We hear you every Sunday.”

Timing Problem:  A little girl came home from school and said to her mother, “I wish you would let me take my bath in the morning before I go to school, instead of at night before I go to bed.”

“What difference does it make?” her mother asked.

“Every day at school,” the little girl said, “Miss Taylor tells everybody to stand up who had a bath today.  And I haven’t been able to stand up one time since school started three months ago.”

Words of wisdom: “There’s a fine line between a long, drawn-out sermon and a hostage situation.”

Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being.  Sometimes it’s called essential oil therapy.

The term “aromatherapy” was coined by a French perfumer and chemist who had discovered the healing potential of lavender in treating burns.

Aromatherapy works through the sense of smell and skin absorption using products like diffusers, aromatic spritzers, inhalers, roll-ons, bathing salts, body oils, creams, or lotions for massage or topical application, facial steamers, hot and cold compresses, and clay masks.

You can find them at many places including like Walgreens, Walmart, and online.  These oils aren’t regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  This means that essential oil products can vary in purity, strength, and quality across manufacturers.  Be sure to only purchase essential oils from reputable brands.  Look for a product that is 100 percent natural and doesn’t contain any additives or synthetic ingredients.

Some essential oils include: lavender, lemon, peppermint, spearmint, eucalyptus, lemongrass, tea tree, and rosemary.  Each essential oil has multiple healing properties, uses, and effects.  You can use these alone or in any combination.

Essential oils may help manage pain, improve sleep quality, help relieve symptoms of depression, reduce stress, agitation, and anxiety, improve digestion, fight bacteria, and boost immunity, and those are just some of the benefits.  One study found that peppermint oil led to a boost in exercise performance.  Another study shows that sniffing rosemary can increase memory by 75%.

You find diluted and undiluted oils.  Read the label.  If you buy undiluted oils, be sure to always dilute them in a massage or carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil, Olive Oil, or Jojoba Oil.  Some of the oils could irritate your skin, if you apply them to your skin directly without diluting them first.

There are some ready to use aromatherapy oils that have already been diluted.  I found some good ones at Dollar Tree.  One reason I like Dollar Tree is, I never know what jewels I might find there.

On average, essential oils are up to 75 times more powerful than dried herbs, so a couple of drops go a long way.  The fragrance doesn’t stay on your skin like regular perfume does. So, don’t worry, if you use peppermint or lemon oil you won’t smell like peppermint or lemon all day.

Like most alternative therapies, aromatherapy shouldn’t be used as a replacement for your doctor’s prescribed treatment plan. Don’t stop taking medications, attending counseling sessions, or using other prescribed therapies without talking to your doctor first.

Essential oils may lift your mood and make you feel good with just a whiff of their fragrance.  Conduct your research to find more information on how to incorporate Aromatherapy into a healthy lifestyle.

Have you tried Aromatherapy?   How did it work for you?  Do you have a favorite oil?

If you know Jesus Christ as your Savior, now is the time to get to know Him even better.  If you don’t know Him, accepting Him as your Savior will be one of the wisest decisions you will ever make.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope enjoyed these priceless tidbits. Until next time, have a blessed day!

Rosy Tidbits

Have you smiled or laughed today? Humor does a body good. God has been so good! I get joy/happy when I think about all He’s done for me. Apple Cider Vinegar has a history of being a powerful, cleansing, and healing cure-all. What can it do for you?

Welcome! I’m excited that you decided to visit Happy & Fit 4 the Master’s Use.  l’ll some share physical, mental, and spiritual tidbits to encourage, enlighten, motivate you, and/or simply make you smile. It’s not about one part, it’s about the whole. God wants us healthy mind, body, and soul.

Tidbit 1   Humor Time

PECANS IN THE CEMETERY

On the outskirts of a small town, there was a big, old pecan tree just inside the cemetery fence. One day, two boys filled up a bucketful of nuts and sat down by the tree, out of sight, and began dividing the nuts.

“One for you, one for me, one for you, one for me,” said one boy. Several dropped and rolled down toward the fence.

Another boy came riding along the road on his bicycle. As he passed, he thought he heard voices from inside the cemetery. He slowed down to investigate. Sure enough, he heard, “One for you, one for me, one for you, one for me…”

He just knew what it was. He jumped back on his bike and rode off. Just around the bend he met an old man with a cane, hobbling along.  “Come here quick,” said the boy, “you won’t believe what I heard! Satan and the Lord are down at the cemetery dividing up the souls!”  The man said, “Beat it kid, can’t you see it’s hard for me to walk.” When the boy insisted though, the man hobbled slowly to the cemetery.

Standing by the fence they heard, “One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me.”

The old man whispered, “Boy, you’ve been tellin’ me the truth. Let’s see if we can see the Lord…?”

Shaking with fear, they peered through the fence, yet were still unable to see anything. The old man and the boy gripped the wrought iron bars of the fence tighter and tighter as they tried to get a glimpse of the Lord.

At last they heard, “One for you, one for me. That’s all. Now let’s go get those nuts by the fence and we’ll be done…”

They say the old man had the lead for a good half-mile before the kid on the bike passed him.

A newly-ordained pastor, in the first days of his first call, was attempting to console the widow of an eccentric man who had just died. Standing before the open casket, the nervous young pastor said, “I realize this must be a very hard blow for you, Mrs. Svenson.  Just try to remember that what we see before us is only the husk, the shell of your dear husband–the nut has gone to heaven.”

Tidbit 2   What God Has Done for Me

I woke up one morning feeling kinda “blah”.  Covid-19 and all the other drama that’s going on, can get to you sometimes.  I began to think about the Lord.  I began to think about the fact that through Him I am victorious!  I am triumphant!  I am an overcomer!  Jesus made that possible when He died and rose again.  If He would have just died, it wouldn’t be possible, but He died and rose again with all power in His hands!

I began to laugh as I thought about those facts.  I laughed and I laughed.  Boy, was it fun!  God knows what we need and that morning I needed to laugh.  Laughter is medicine & it sure does a body good.  I get joy; I get happy when I think about what God has done for me.

Tidbit 3   Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) has a history of being a powerful, cleansing, and healing cure-all.  It contains natural occurring antibiotic, and antiseptic properties, that fight germs and bacteria for a healthier, stronger, longer life.  It’s been traced as far back as 3,000 BC.  It was used in Biblical times as an antiseptic and a healing agent.  In Paris, in the Middle Ages it was sold from barrels by street vendors as a body deodorant, healing tonic and delicious vinegar drink to keep the body healthy and ageless.

ACV may relieve headaches, zap sore throats, fight coughs and colds, help improve digestion, fight kidney and bladder problems, fight arthritis, & combat mucus.  If splashed on a burn of any kind, it may stop the intense continual pain instantly and permanently.  It also may help prevent scarring.

All vinegars are not created equal.  The vinegar that I’m talking about is raw, organic, unfiltered unpasteurized, ACV with the “miracle mother”.  I use this vinegar first, before I try anything else, especially for several of the reasons I just shared with you.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is aug.-blog-2020.jpg

The “mother” is believed to be rich in health-boosting natural protein, healthy bacteria and acetic acid.  It forms naturally as raw organic vinegar ferments, producing a cloudy, brownish vinegar with cobweb-like substances at the bottom of the bottle.  If a vinegar looks crystal clear, it’s been filtered and pasteurized to remove the “mother” and most of its nutrients.

This vinegar is more expensive than regular vinegar, so I don’t use it for cleaning. Once your bottle is half gone, you can add regular brown vinegar with it.  Just make sure that you still have some “mother” at the bottom of the jar.  It never needs refrigeration.

ACV has been used as an alternative to salt, a foot soak, skin cleanser and toner, a cleansing hair rinse, a steam facial treatment, sore muscle reliever, a salad dressing, and as a daily drink.

A common dosage for ACV as a drink ranges from 1 teaspoon to 2 tablespoons per day, mixed in a glass of water.  It can be hard on your throat if you don’t mix it with water. It’s acidic, and cause damage to tooth enamel.  So, drink it through a straw, mix it with water or rinse your mouth with water after taking it.

If you’re considering giving ACV a try as a drink, start slow to gauge how your stomach handles it. And consider talking to your doctor about the potential risks—especially interactions with your current medications.

I am a firm supporter of this God given home remedy.  I sing its praises because I’ve experienced the benefits.

Have you tried ACV with the “mother”?  How did it work for you?

I hope enjoyed these rosy tidbits. Thanks for stopping by.  Have a blessed day.

A man buys a parrot and brings him home. But the parrot starts insulting him and gets really nasty, so the man picks up the parrot and tosses him into the freezer to teach him a lesson. He hears the bird squawking for a few minutes, but all of a sudden the parrot is quiet. The man opens the freezer door, the parrot walks out, looks up at him and says, “I apologize for offending you, and I humbly ask your forgiveness.”

The man says, “Well, thank you. I forgive you.”

The parrot then says, “If you don’t mind my asking, what did the chicken do?”

What did the Judge say when the skunk walked in the courtroom?

Odor in the court! Odor in the court!

A police officer attempts to stop a car for speeding and the guy gradually increases his speed until he’s topping 100 mph. The man eventually realizes he can’t escape and finally pulls over. The cop approaches the car and says, “It’s been a long day and my shift is almost over, so if you can give me a good excuse for your behavior, I’ll let you go.” The guy thinks for a few seconds and then says, “My wife ran away with a cop about a week ago. I thought you might be that officer trying to give her back!”  ~James Harris

“Complaining is dangerous business. It can damage or even destroy your relationship with God, your relationships with other people and even with your relationship with yourself.” – Joyce Meyer

What do you do when you get really stressed out? Is your first instinct to complain? Somehow complaining has become a natural reaction to us. We gripe, groan, vent, and moan about the unfairness of it all. The Children of Israel in the Bible were famous for murmuring and complaining. They also got into a lot of trouble with God because of it.

Research has shown that when we complain, the hippocampus – the part of the brain that plays a crucial role in problem solving and intelligent thought, releases a stress hormone called cortisol.  The release of cortisol is your natural “flight or fight” response that has kept humans alive for thousands of years.  One effect is to raise your blood pressure and blood sugar so that you’ll be prepared to either escape or defend yourself.

All the extra cortisol released by frequent complaining impairs your immune system and makes you more susceptible to high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. It even makes the brain more vulnerable to strokes.

Research also shows that when we hear someone else groan, moan or complain.  It’s like inhaling second-hand smoke.  So, damage can be caused either way.

Because complaining has become a natural reaction to many of us, we have to train ourselves to not complain so much. Now this doesn’t mean that we should never complain or vent, but if and when we do, it’s suggested that we do it with the purpose of resolving a concern or grievance not just because it rained when you wanted the sun to shine or because the clerk at the grocery store didn’t say thank you.

Venting could keep us from going off on somebody.  The key is having the right, trusted person you can vent to: Someone who can encourage you, give you insight, or just be there to listen.

I’m a work in progress when it comes to complaining.  When I sing songs like Rev. Paul Jones’s song: I Won’t Complain, it reinforces the fact that God has indeed been good to me and I must practice being more thankful cause – things could always be worse.  Somebody said, “I had no shoes and complained, until I met a man who had no feet.”

Are you aware that adding herbs and spices to your food not only add extra flavor but they may also help protect your body?  Some aid fat burning and boost metabolism and help stabilize blood sugar.  Some have powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal properties.

Here are 8 herbs & spices that may benefit you.

1. Basil – Basil is a very effective anti-inflammatory herb with extraordinary healing benefits that work for arthritis, allergies, and inflammatory bowel conditions, to name a just a few.

2.  Cinnamon is highly effective at helping to stabilize blood sugar levels, making it very effective for those with diabetes (type 1 and type 2). In one study of people with type 2 diabetes, just two teaspoons a day reduced blood sugar as much as 20-30%, as well as lowering LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

3.  Rosemary has long been known to improve concentration, boost memory, and lift depression. Rosemary also strengthens the immune system, improves circulation, stimulates digestion, and fights cancer, as well.

4.  Thyme’s active ingredient is known for treating bronchitis, sore throats, chest congestion, laryngitis and asthma.  It is also effective as a soothing stomach aid to relieve gastritis, indigestion and colic.

5.  Turmeric is said to be more effective slowing down the development of Alzheimer’s disease than many medications, because it decreases inflammation and oxidation in the brain. This spice also speeds up the recovery time from strokes as well.

6.  Cloves have strong antiseptic and germicidal ingredients that help fight infections, relieve digestive problems, and arthritis pain. One of cloves’ best known uses is its ability to relieve tooth and gum pain.

7.  Cumin is known for being especially good for digestion.  It helps detoxify the body, and is highly effective for respiratory disorders like asthma and bronchitis.

8. Oregano contains oil that is a very potent anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral agent). It may also relieve inflammation, internal or external, and offer relief from allergies, aches and pain, without side effects.

Spice up your life a bit and enjoy all the super health benefits that God has provided through herbs and spices!

The information that I have shared with you is intended for informational purposes only.  Always check with your physician to be sure certain herbs and spices don’t interfere with medications you may be taking
